How to wear a black kurta in 5 different ways this spring summer 2018!
The mercury is rising like its nobody’s business and the Summer is here before we know it! It is becoming more and more scorching out in the sun every single day and the only material I am opting for these days is Cotton. Why? Simple, Its breezy and its easy to carry. Well there is one more thing that these cute Cotton kurtas offer and that is versatility. They mix well with any look and offer a great range of fashion remix. Being a fashion enthusiast I couldn’t help but wonder how a simple black kurta that I have can give me an array of four different looks in a jiffy. Here are my five different ways to style a basic black kurti.
Traditional or Indian version
Here is the traditional or authentic ethnic version with a mirror-work dupatta, a chikankari palazzo pants and an oxidized necklace. I have completed the desi girl look with a thick black eyeliner and red lips. This is just one of the different ways to wear a black kurta.
Short knee-length Kurta’s go very well with both palazzo and patiala pants or salwar. Also both these bottoms are breezy enough to take you through the hot summers comfortably. A great way to channel your inner punjabi kudi vibes.
Punk It Up with Waist-coat
A great way to style your basic black kurta is to use a waist-coat or ethnic jacket over it. Here I have used an ethnic waistcoat bought from westside stores to accessorize the plain kurta.
I have completed my look with tassel earrings, ethnic bag and matching juttis. A colourful yet casual look to prep up the summer afternoons.
A winged liner and mauve pink lipstick completed my look.
Who says Gothic is from West? One can easily channelize gothic vibes in Indian outfits just like I have done here.
For the goth look I have paired the kurta with a pair of distressed denim. Accessorizing the outfit with starry scarves and black choker necklace to complete the look. Keeping in mind the look I have used a dark makeup with burgundy lipstick and sleek hairstyle.
My black stud loafers and funky ear-cuffs give the finishing touch to the complete Goth look I was aiming at and I quite like the results.
Indo-Western with Palazzo
Pair your black kurta with one of your comfy palazzo pants and aim for an Indo-western look. Here I have gone for more of an Indian look but you can also use colourful floral or striped palazzo pants to go with this plain kurta.
I have paired my kurta with a hot pink palazzo pants and a matching bandhani dupatta. Kurta palazzo look is great for the breezy warm evenings of Summer and you can also head with this outfit from work to party with some styling.
Keeping the ethnic vibe going, I have accessorized my look with an oxidized necklace, ethnic chappals and sling bag. I have completed my look with a nude makeup and a sheer lip gloss.
And that’s me with practically no makeup as I like it simple for summers.
This completes my 4 different ways to wear a black kurta. Do let me know how you liked all the different styling also share some of your ideas to style basic kurtas for summer in the comments below.
