Beautiful and affordable Saree with a stitched blouse for Diwali bought online!
The biggest festival of India is approaching within few days with women in every household going tizzy over the yearly Diwali housecleaning and festival preparations, very little time is left for mulling over what to wear this Diwali. With a year old toddler and lot of guests coming over there is hardly any time left for shopping. If that is not enough, all the masterji’s and tailors suddenly start acting too pricey, they ask more than double the money and take more than triple the time as compared to routine days, not to forget the in-numerous rounds to their shop to remind them to give on time, till the night before Diwali. While I was having nightmares of how I would look during Diwali ” Tired and Exhausted”, I came across Triveni Ethnics that has a variety of options in Indian ethnic outfits and the best part is they provide stitching as well! I will do a full fledged review of the website, material, fitting and price at the end of the post, But for now check out how I styled my Diwali festival outfit and my Bridal look for the same! (Yes, I have a few family weddings to attend post diwali and this outfit shall serve both the purpose! Yaay!)
How to style your plain Saree for a festive look?
Once it was settled I was going to shop for Diwali online, next was the question, what should I buy. I wanted something that was evergreen, versatile and that would work for both Diwali and the upcoming wedding functions. Ofcourse the first thing that popped up was a beautiful Saree, it being the most versatile option. But with my little one, I was too skeptical to carry the 7 yards. This was before I saw this simple and light weight chiffon saree tagged in their sale items. The colour was so pretty and the saree seemed so fuss free that I instantly decided that this is what I wanna wear. Not to forget the fact that, a beautiful lightweight saree is a bridal must have. Not only bridal but a new mommy must have too!
I went for this pretty pink vibrant Choli saree in chiffon material that is super comfortable and easy to wear. I love the pop pink colour that is shaded with coral hues and the trendy choli blouse gives the whole outfit a more vibrant look. The style and pattern of the choli blouse is flattering for my narrow shoulders and best part is, it was all ready-made. The saree has a simple antique gold and deep blue velvet border giving the as such plain saree a festive or bridal vibe.
The choli was pre-stitched and sent along with the saree with help of a body measurement form online, which totally saved me the hassle of getting the saree blouse stitched at the end moment and running around for the matching blouse accessories. The hangings and pompoms that you can see in the blouse all came with it. So basically all I had to do was drape it, accessorize and get my makeup done and I was all ready to rock the festivities.
For my diwali look, I draped the saree in the front pallu style keeping the pallu long and gathered in pleats giving it a lehenga style look. This drape is not only comfortable to move around but also keeps my hands free (required to pick up my toddler and do her stuff!) I kept the accessories simple and elegant going minimalist. A bright yellow jhummar earrings in antique gold, a kundan antique gold kada and a body chain completed my festive saree look!
Style your plain Saree for a Bridal look!
The front pallu can be easily converted into a bridal look with a little change of pallu. Rather than bringing it in front, take it over your head for this bride inspired look. All those brides to be, this is how you can totally work a simple bright colour saree into a glamorous bridal outfit. Don’t forget to throw in a smile as bright as your outfit and you are ready to steal hearts.
The makeup is simple base-makeup done by a friend (credits given at the end) who is an amazing makeup artist for bridal makeup. She kept the look simple, highlighting my cheekbones and a pop of colour on my lips. The eye-makeup is hues of gold, emerald green and turquoise blue. A detailed hair and makeup post is soon coming up on the blog with all the products used with their shades.
I have donned a simple gold body chain over the saree blouse to give it subtle glam look. Pairing up a contemporary western jewelery over a traditional Indian outfit can gives your look an edge along with saving your pocket. I totally love how this body chain has replaced the traditional kamarbandh and yet looks more sexier than that over this saree.
The hairstyle is a twisted front braid with a messy side bun that requires not much back-combing and is easy and quick to do. My straight hair were causing many fly aways while twisting, so my makeup artist used a hair spray to keep them in place. Details of the hairstyle and makeup will be covered in a seperate post.

My Review for Triveni Ethnics Saree
The saree is from the sale collection at Triveni and is quite affordable one. They have great prices and an online measurement form for stitching. They deliver the stitched blouse along with the saree at your home. The pattern of the blouse has a diamond shaped back cut-out and a similar smaller cut-out in front with a boat shaped neck. The back thread is a sturdy gold tread with danglers that look quite decent, small and light weight.
- Budget friendly
- Easy to wear
- Beautiful choli blouse pre-stitched
- Light weight
- Colour doesn’t fade
- Fast Delivery (within 7 days)
- Material is synthetic and not chiffon, but only once you touch it you would know.
- The saree came without a fall and I had to get it done outside.
- Even though body measurements are given, the blouse doesn’t fit properly and a little nudge here and there had to be done. I did it at home only so it saved time.
