Why is Red the unanimous choice for Valentine’s Day Date night?
Valentine’s Day is here already and this year it’s all the more special for me, since this will be my first Valentine with my little one. Basically, Since I have become a mother I have lost track of all the Days and festivals, everyday is the same for me and with me juggling from my place to mom’s place leaves hardly any time for hubby and me. So this Valentine’s I have decided to sit back and celebrate love!
Red is the colour of Love
When I think of Valentine’s some how I think of Red and I am sure this is the case with most of us. Some how over the years Red colour has become synonymous with Valentine’s Day and there is a reason why. Firstly, because Red is the colour of Love; a red rose has been a symbol of pure love & beauty since ages and is closely associated with Valentine’s Day. So donning a Red outfit somehow adds up to the atmosphere of love and makes you feel special. Colour aura anyone?
Red makes you stand out!
Red is one colour that makes you stand out from the crowd. It is not only the most bright colour in your wardrobe but also makes you look slim. Believe it or not when going out for a bold statement, Red shall be your first pick.
Red looks great on all
Red looks good on all skin tones, be it fair, olive, wheatish or Dark complexion. Moreover it falls in the warm tones and earthen shades and goes great with Indian skin tone. Also Red colour can easily double up for a Day and Night wear.
How to style one outfit for both Day and Night look?
Picking a right outfit doesn’t end our Valentine fashion woes. Picking up an outfit that goes for both Day and Night wear can be a real task. I have gone for a very safe Red column dress with a front slit that can easily switch as a Day and night wear. My parenting days do not let me do much styling, so I have left my curls open which makes up for a great retro hairstyle & donned my favorite golden lennon glasses. I completed my day look with coral red Block heels. Red Dress in itself stands out during the day so make sure you use minimum makeup and stay clutter free, putting your hair up in a pony tail or a clean bun can also make the look more neat yet sexy for your Date.
The night look needs a little jazz, so you can either glamorize your dress with some beautiful accessories or add another solid colour to your outfit, like a printed scarf, a jacket or an over-coat. Since these days are a little cold in the evenings, I paired up this dress with a fur parka coat & Stilettos. A statement neck-piece and a matching Sling back completed my look. I plan to wear my Black boots on the “D-day” with this look, but since I am at juggling between two cities I have to make do with what limited accessories I have at hand.
I have narrow shoulders and somehow I feel the jacket gives me a more balanced look than just the Dress. I have been loosing weight like hell after delivery, Maybe its breastfeeding, so the jacket sorts of helps to not make me look more skinny and I love that fact.
