Indian Beauty Blog – The high’s and the Low’s of Colorbar Deep Matte Lip Creame
Hope you are enjoying the Mid Summers with lots of Alphonso’s, sunscreens and Vibrant colours! Talking of colours reminds me of the recently launched enviable range of Matte Lip Cremes/Creams by Colorbar, that are almost similar to NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. I have never been too fond of Lip Creams and I do not know why, I always dread they are too sticky and shall smear on my lips, but recently I have been trying to experiment with them starting from Makeup Revolution’s lip cream (review coming soon!) Thus when colorbar launched this matte lip creame range in all these beautiful shades, I was pretty excited to try them on a sunny summer day!
Today I will be reviewing Colorbar’s Deep matte creame in Deep Blush! Deep blush is a pretty pink colour that caught my eye instantly and I was eager to try it on my dusky skin complexion. Lets see how it works for me!
The lip creme comes in a transparent cylinder that tappers towards the bottom with a metal cap attached to an applicator wand. The applicator is Popsicle shaped large enough to pick up decent amount of product on both the sides. The liptick is packed in a metallic cardboard box which has a colour coded sticker bearing the name of the shade.
It is claims to be a “weightless” texture that brings an unexpected moussy finish with impeccably high pigmentation bringing about a matte yet bright finish. The highlights of the lip creame are mentioned to be
• Stays up to 8 hrs.
• Weightless emollient oils for an impalpable texture.
• Silicon polymers for a mousse and Velvet touch.
• Jellifying agents for moisturization.
• Texturing powders for smooth application.
• Paraben free.
• Fragrance free.
Price: 675/- inr for 6 ml.
Shade: Deep Blush is a pretty Coral pink shade with a metallic matte look and neon undertones. This is a perfect pink shade for Indian skin tones and best Summer colour.
My Experience with Colorbar Deep Matte Lip Creme:
True to its name the Colorbar Deep matte lip creme is a creamy textured lip colour which somewhat resembles whipped cream but lighter in weight. The consistency is thick and pigmentation rich. It glides smoothly on my lips without tugging or smearing. The lip cream gives a matte finish once it settles down on the lips. Despite of its matte finish it does not leave the lips dry and gives a metallic shine. The colour does not smear or spread out of the lip lines. It is great for dry lips like mine as it provides good enough hydration and it is not that sticky, creamy smeary kind of lipstick that would fill inside the cracks of flaky lips (Yes, currently mine are super dry lips)
The colour does not smear or spread out of the lip lines. It is great for dry lips like mine as it provides good enough hydration and it is not that sticky, creamy smeary kind of lipstick that would fill inside the cracks of flaky lips (Yes, currently mine are super dry lips). The pigmentation is decent enough to give a rich colour in a single swipe.
Despite of the fact that my lips are super dry, they look and feel hydrated and yet the colour is not glossy or creamy and it in-fact does give a semi matte finish to my lips, which is great. The colour looks great on my skin, hides my pigmentation and keeps my lips hydrated. So far so good, But and this is one of great concern BUT!! The only problem I faced with the colourbar lip creme is its application. I had to actually sit with a tissue paper to dab off extra product from the sides of my lips and few other places as the product comes in excess and due to its creamy consistency at times it forms small lumps in certain areas which has to be evened out either with the application or a tissue paper.
Staying Power: Another major issue that I face with lip cream and not only this but most of them is that, they do not stay longer on my lips. I have a habit of snacking between meals, even when I am out and the lip creme’s have a really annoying trait of transferring to the cutlery and wearing off easily. However, this one stayed for less than 3 hours on my lips which is the longest any lip creme has stayed, still not long enough compared to my other matte lipsticks.
The lip creme also tends to leave a stain behind after wearing off, which can be both good as well as bad. Good because even after wearing off the lip creme keeps your lips colored for longer hours and bad because for people who have dry flaked lips like mine, once the cream wears off the stain will emphasize the cracks on the lips staining darker in the cracks and lighter elsewhere giving it an ugly look.
Pros of Colorbar Deep Matte Lip Crème Deep Blush:
1. The coral pink lip colour is super cool for summers and will suit almost all skin tones.
2. The lip creme is hydrating and great for dry lips.
3. It does not smear or bleed or come out of the lip lines.
4. The lip creme has a soft creamy texture that does not weight down your lips and gives an excellent matte finish.
5. It makes your lips look fuller.
6. The packaging is cute and travel friendly.
7. Good enough staying power for a creme lipstick
Pros of Colorbar Deep Matte Lip Crème Deep Blush:
1. The colorbar lip creme transfers easily to tea-cups and utensils tending to wear off easily and leave stains on everything your lips touch! 😛
2. It leaves a stain after removal which can be a no-no for dried flaky lips, however it can be a boon for those looking for a lip stains.
3. Considering it is a lip creme it has comparatively less staying power.
4. It forms lumps at the corners and other folds of my lips leaving me uncomfortable and having me to use a tissue while applying.
5. I think the price is too steep compared to other contemporary brands available in the market.
I would rate Colorbar Deep Matte Lip Creme in Deep Blush a pretty 4/5 despite all its loop holes as its a pretty colour and it hydrates well. Also its the first lip cream, I am not completely dissatisfied with ( that’s a brownie point there!)
Would I go ahead a buy a new pack? Well that depends, May be yes for its colour, May be not for its steep price. 😉
